I shoot and print 'on demand' sales. With each new style printer, one has 'new' ink cartridges. Yes, believe me, there is a difference. One drawback is the printer is really designed for the old system XP. You might ask 'Why.' would anyone want to buy the HP7760 series of printers when one can walk into almost any drugstore and buy the 'new' HP printers that are touted as HP-Photo printers. By remaining with the tried and true 57 and 58 ink cartridges, I have the knowledge that my product will be satisfactory to MY liking, as well as my client's liking. The 'like new' or refurbished HP7760 (all of those in that catagory) give marvalous prints, at 8x10, one will get a photo without the heavy grain one might get on others. With a bit of luck, one can download 'upgrades' which help with this Vista stuff.I recommend the HP7760 to anyone who might ask. For one good reason. They make the finest prints, and in my case, fit right into my photo trailer business.
Ink expensive. We get too many paper jams. We have owned this for several years. The phot feature jammed and no longer works.
I just bought a Canon MX850. If you can find one for cheap I would suggest you get it. I will not write to much since this printer is discontinued. I use both but will go to mu HP for larger portrait prints. I paid $200 when I bought mine. I had this printer for 4 years now and have to admit it still prints larger photos better than most current printer. It has never failed me since I had it.
For creative pictures, you need to adjust settings in the printing configuration from your PC. I bought this printer in 2004 and am still using it now. Mainly use it to print documents and pictures off my memory card or camera. Highly recommended.
Its very hard not to like this printer although now its a little left behind by the newer ones. Overall its a nice printer to have. Once you download all the updates, the performance of this printer is optimized. The updates modifies and solves certain problems (only small ones) that have been encountered in using this printer.
It is fast enough for regular document printing applications and adequate enough for high quality photo printing. You do however, after installing the software, to auto-set it to download driver updates so you can get the best performance out of your printer. No problems so far. The software is not hard to install, its plug & play.
It's memory card slot is for multiple memory cards. The quality of the pictures are awesome considering that this is only tri-ink printer. It can be used as a stand-alone printer to print photos from your memory card, just slide it in and you're good to go.
It needs a cleaning now and again as the rollers stop feeding paper but it's quite easy to accomplish. I've owned this printer for years now in an office environment and it's still going strong.
